Dallas Marathon Organization Expands North Texas Footprint with Launch of McKinney Historic Half

DALLAS, Texas (Nov. 10, 2025) – The BMW Dallas Marathon organization has announced the launch of the McKinney Historic Half Presented by BMW, a brand-new spring running event debuting March 28, 2026, hosted by TUPPS Brewery in McKinney, Texas. Featuring a half marathon, 5K, and Kid's 100M dash, the event will bring the BMW Dallas Marathon's signature professional race experience to Collin County with a distinctly local touch, celebrating community, history, and health in one of Texas' fastest-growing cities.

The McKinney Historic Half will showcase the city's historic downtown and square, picturesque neighborhoods, and vibrant park system, with a course designed to offer a mix of road and trail terrain unique to North Texas. Runners and spectators will gather at TUPPS Brewery, the start and finish hub of the race and the site of a post-race festival featuring food, music and family activities.

"McKinney is the perfect setting as our organization looks to expand into Collin County next year," said Jason Schuchard, President of the BMW Dallas Marathon. "The city has such an incredible sense of community and we're excited for runners to experience all that McKinney has to offer. Event day will be welcoming, full of energy and fun for all."

Organized by the same nonprofit team that produces the BMW Dallas Marathon, the McKinney Historic Half is part of a strategic effort to expand the organization's year-round race calendar and deepen its connection to North Texas communities. Proceeds from the race will benefit Scottish Rite for Children in Frisco, continuing a nearly 30-year partnership that has generated more than $4.5 million in donations to date.

A Race Built for the Community

The McKinney Historic Half was designed to be more than a race. It's a celebration of health, history and hometown pride. Built in partnership with McKinney businesses, civic organizations, and local nonprofits, the event offers a professionally produced experience with a small-town feel, welcoming runners of all ages and abilities.

"Our Board and staff wanted to create something that felt distinctly McKinney," said Dr. Logan Sherman, Chairman of the BMW Dallas Marathon. "For more than 50 years our organization has produced Texas's longest-running marathon. And now we are proud to bring that same first-class experience to Collin County. The McKinney Historic Half will showcase the city's history, people, character, and community spirit while bringing a world-class racing experience to the heart of Collin County."

The inaugural event is expected to draw more than 4,000 participants across all distances in its first year, with room to grow into a signature spring tradition for Collin County.
